Baldwin Lower School Students Recognized with Math Olympiad Awards

Baldwin had 54 of its 4th and 5th grade girls who were among the nearly 120,000 students worldwide to participate this year in the Math Olympiads Program. They participated in a series of 5 contests of 5 problems each, each month from November to March. Gold medals are awarded for 1st place in each grade level: the Highest Scorer medal in 4th grade went to Lina Kuoch ’33, and the highest scorer medal in 5th grade went to Michelle Dou ’32. Silver medals are awarded for 2nd place in each grade level: in 4th grade there was a tie with Marina Markle ’33 and Alisha Bose ’33, and in 5th grade it went to Kayla Tian ’32.
 
Silver pins are awarded to students who scored in the top 10% worldwide (12,000 out of 120,000) and went to Hannah Lu ’32, Miraya Gupta ’32 and Vivi Grant ’32. Gold pins are awarded to students who score in the top 2% worldwide (2,400 out of 120,000) and went to Michelle Dou ’32 and Kayla Tian ’32.
 
MOEMS also recognizes teams for outstanding achievement. Congratulations to Baldwin’s 5th Grade team, which earned a total score in the top 10% of all of the schools who participate. They will receive a plaque that will be proudly displayed in the Lower School entrance.
